An electric bus in Bengaluru caught fire on Monday around 10:40 pm due to a suspected electrical short circuit, likely caused by rainwater entering the battery. The bus, operating on route 500QA/9, was evacuated swiftly by the driver, Dasharath, and the conductor, Narasimha Raju, ensuring the safety of over 12 passengers. Fire tenders were dispatched to extinguish the flames, and no injuries were reported. The incident, which occurred on the road connecting Veerannapalya and Hebbal Junction, caused significant traffic disruption. The bus has been moved to a workshop for further inspection, and authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the exact cause of the fire.
