Search for Missing Coast Guard Crew Member Concluded

The Canadian Coast Guard has confirmed that a crew member of the CCGS Vincent Massey is lost at sea off the coast of southern Newfoundland. The individual was reported missing when the vessel reached St. John's on Monday morning, having last been seen on board Sunday evening. An immediate search was conducted aboard the vessel and was followed by extensive air and sea operations, which concluded on Tuesday evening. The search efforts were deemed unsuccessful, and the case has now been turned over to the RCMP, which will investigate it as a missing person case. The Coast Guard expressed devastation over the loss and emphasized that decisions to end search efforts are not made lightly.
