Driver in Custody After Woman Killed in Anaheim
A tragic incident occurred in Anaheim on Tuesday evening when a speeding Mercedes-Benz, driven by 33-year-old Raymundo Rangel, fatally struck a woman in her 50s who was out for a walk. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Rio Vista Street and Wagner Avenue, where Rangel failed to make a turn, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and end up in a riverbed. The victim's body was discovered in nearby brush after a search was initiated when her husband reported her missing. Rangel, who sustained minor injuries, is currently in custody on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI, with police investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors. A second man, believed to be a passenger, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The community is mourning the loss, with local authorities expressing their condolences to the victim's family.
