US Intelligence Director Gabbard Seeks Spy Agency Emails to Enforce Trump Agenda
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has defended the success of U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, asserting that new intelligence confirms the destruction of key sites and that rebuilding would take years. This counters media reports from CNN and The New York Times, which questioned the effectiveness of the strikes. Meanwhile, Gabbard leads the Director’s Initiative Group (DIG), a special team tasked with investigating and ending the politicization and weaponization of intelligence within U.S. agencies under President Donald Trump's administration. DIG has sought access to mass amounts of internal emails and chat logs from major intelligence agencies to use AI tools to identify individuals allegedly undermining the Trump agenda, raising concerns among senior officials about privacy, counterintelligence risks, and the potential creation of an echo chamber favoring unconditional support for the president. Some lawmakers, including Rep. Jim Himes, have expressed limited visibility and concern regarding DIG’s activities and the dangers posed by blending sensitive classified information using AI. Despite agency resistance and concerns about security and privacy, Gabbard and her office maintain that their efforts aim to restore transparency and accountability within the Intelligence Community.
