Drunk Driver Plots Fake Theft After A1 Crash

Charlie Taylor, a 22-year-old man from Lincolnshire, was caught on his own dashcam plotting to fake a car theft after crashing his Mitsubishi Shogun while over twice the legal alcohol limit on March 2. The footage showed him veering off the A1 motorway near Brampton, leading to a field after drinking the night before. In a phone call with a friend, Taylor admitted to drink driving and suggested he would report the vehicle as stolen, claiming he would 'park it into a tree.' He was later apprehended by police following a report from a member of the public who mistook the incident for illegal hunting. Taylor pleaded guilty to drink driving and using a vehicle without a valid MOT at Cambridge Magistrates' Court and was disqualified from driving for a year, along with a £480 fine.
