Najee Harris Out With Season-Ending Achilles Tear
Tests confirmed Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in the Week 3 non-contact injury against the Denver Broncos; Harris was carted off after initially being listed with an ankle issue. The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal this offseason and had 15 carries for 61 yards through three games, and the injury will force him to miss the first game of his NFL career. Rookie first-rounder Omarion Hampton, who had 129 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in the game, is expected to assume the lead role. Hassan Haskins and practice-squad backs Kimani Vidal and Amar Johnson are expected to provide depth while the Chargers may pursue additional backfield help. The injury requires a lengthy rehabilitation and alters Los Angeles’s backfield plans as the team heads into Week 4 at 3-0.
