Amazon Ends Prime Invitee Sharing Outside Household October 2025
Amazon is ending its Prime Invitee Program on October 1, 2025, which allowed Prime members to share free shipping and other benefits with people outside their household. Going forward, sharing Prime benefits will be restricted to those living in the same household through the Amazon Family program, which supports one other adult and up to four children, all sharing the same primary residential address. Amazon is encouraging invitees affected by this change to sign up for their own Prime memberships, offering a discounted rate of $14.99 for the first year. This move is part of Amazon's strategy to increase individual Prime subscriptions and reduce revenue loss from shared accounts, especially after missing Prime sign-up goals in the U.S. during the recent extended Prime Day event. The Amazon Family program continues to offer a broad range of shared benefits including fast delivery, Prime Video, Amazon Music, exclusive deals, and access to digital content and third-party services. Users will be notified about the transition by September 5, 2025, and setting up a Family account is free but requires sharing payment methods to verify household membership.
