Meanwhile, swimmer Gretchen Walsh of UVA dominated the 2024 World Short-Course Championships in Budapest, winning gold in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.31 seconds, just shy of the world record. She also secured her first individual gold in the 50-meter butterfly, clocking in at 24.01 seconds, making it the second-fastest time ever. Her achievements continue to highlight her exceptional performance this winter, as she breaks multiple records and earns accolades.
