Measles Cases Spread in Kentucky, Utah Amid US Outbreak

Measles cases are rising in Kentucky and Utah amid a broader national outbreak in the United States. In central Kentucky, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reports eight confirmed cases connected to an outbreak in Woodford and Fayette counties, with four new cases in Fayette County linked to the initial case, all under quarantine and posing no additional public risk. Kentucky has reported 11 cases this year, including an unrelated case in Todd County. Meanwhile, Utah has confirmed nine measles cases, with most in Utah County and some in the Southwest Health District, marking an increase from earlier in June. Nationally, the U.S. has recorded over 1,267 measles cases across 38 states and territories in 2025, with 27 separate outbreaks, indicating the spread is more widespread and difficult to contain compared to the previous year.
