Mattia Binotto returns
Mattia Binotto, the former Ferrari Team Principal, has been appointed as the Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer for Audi's Formula 1 project, taking over from Andreas Seidl starting August 1. This move comes amid significant management changes at Audi, including the departure of Seidl and chairman Oliver Hoffmann, as the company prepares for its entry into F1 in 2026. Binotto brings over 25 years of experience in F1 and is expected to enhance the operational independence and efficiency of the team. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner emphasized the importance of clear management structures and rapid decision-making processes under Binotto's leadership. In related news, a proposal to expand the F1 points system beyond the top 10 finishers has been unanimously rejected. As part of the transition, Nico Hülkenberg is set to join the Sauber team in 2025 ahead of Audi's debut.
