Las Cruces Shooting Involved Rival Groups, 3 Arrested
A mass shooting at an unauthorized car show in Young Park, Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Friday night resulted in the deaths of 16-year-old Andrew Madrid, 18-year-old Jason Gomez, and 19-year-old Dominick Estrada, with 15 others injured. The incident involved rival groups, and approximately 50 to 60 handgun casings were found, indicating multiple shooters. Authorities have arrested Tomas Rivas, 20, and two 17-year-old juveniles on murder charges, with additional charges pending. Police cited staffing issues for their absence, which contributed to the incident's severity. In response, the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico has established a crisis action fund to assist victims and their families. The investigation continues with multiple law enforcement agencies involved.
