De Beers Discovers First Kimberlite Field in Angola in 30 Years

The find reinforces De Beers' confidence in Angola as a prime diamond exploration region and highlights the strong partnership with the Angolan government, which has improved transparency and created a business-friendly environment. Meanwhile, De Beers' parent company Anglo American is pursuing a strategic divestment of the diamond unit, attracting interest from multiple consortia including Indian diamond firms, Qatari investment funds, and commodities magnate Anil Agarwal. The sale process occurs amid challenging market conditions due to competition from lab-grown diamonds and slowing demand in China.
