Brazilian Officer Arrests Father's Killer After 25 Years

Gislayne Silva de Deus, a Brazilian woman, achieved her lifelong mission of bringing her father's murderer to justice 25 years after his death. Her father, Givaldo Jose Vicente de Deus, was shot in 1999 over a £20 debt, and his killer, Raimundo Alves Gomes, evaded justice for years despite being convicted in 2013. Gislayne, who was only nine when her father was killed, pursued a career in law enforcement to avenge him, joining the police force and ultimately the General Homicide Division. After extensive efforts, she helped track down Gomes, who had been on the run since 2016, leading to his arrest on September 25, 2023. The emotional confrontation between Gislayne and Gomes was captured on video, marking a poignant moment of closure for her and her family.
