Gloucester Confirm Signing of Leinster Back Rob Russell for 2025-26 Season
Gloucester Rugby has signed versatile back-three player Rob Russell from Leinster Rugby ahead of the 2025-26 season. The 26-year-old, capable of playing both wing and fullback, scored 18 tries in 35 appearances for Leinster since his debut in 2021 and is recognized for his attacking skills and versatility. Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington praised Russell's development at Leinster's academy and highlighted his strong strike rate and motivation for the new challenge in the Gallagher Premiership. Russell expressed excitement about joining Gloucester and competing in one of the toughest rugby leagues. The signing complements Gloucester's backline as they prepare for the upcoming season, alongside other recent additions including Ross Byrne, Ben Loader, and Ben Redshaw. Russell will fill gaps left by departing players and aims to thrive under Gloucester’s coaching staff.
