Patriots Trade Keion White; Dugger Deal Updated
The New England Patriots traded defensive end Keion White to the San Francisco 49ers in a swap that sent White and a 2026 seventh-round pick to San Francisco in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. San Francisco also added veteran pass rusher Clelin Ferrell to its practice squad as it copes with a season-ending knee injury to Nick Bosa and absences by Bryce Huff, Yetur Gross‑Matos and Sam Okuayinonu, and could still pursue a speed edge rusher or slide rookie Mykel Williams outside. White, a 2023 second‑round pick who is under contract through 2026, gives the 49ers inside/outside pass‑rush versatility on a low‑risk deal. New England traded safety Kyle Dugger to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a deal that sends a conditional 2026 seventh‑rounder (the Saints’ pick) to the Patriots while the Steelers move down roughly 20 spots with their sixth‑round selection, and the Patriots will retain about $5.4 million of Dugger’s $9.75 million salary. The Patriots signed defensive back John Saunders Jr. off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad to bolster safety depth and added running back Jonathan Ward to the practice squad to replenish depth. The flurry of moves reflects both clubs’ midseason roster adjustments ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
