Australia Expels Iran Officials After Confirmed Antisemitic Attacks

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that intelligence from ASIO revealed the Iranian government orchestrated at least two antisemitic attacks on Australian soil, including the firebombing of the Adass Israel synagogue in Melbourne and an attack on the Lewis Continental Kitchen in Sydney. As a result, Iran's ambassador to Australia, Ahmad Sadeghi, along with three other Iranian officials, have been expelled and given a week to leave the country. Australia has also suspended operations at its embassy in Tehran and designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist entity. Albanese described these acts as extraordinary and dangerous aggression aimed at undermining social cohesion and sowing discord within Australian communities. Investigations are ongoing, with ASIO assessing that Iran likely directed further attacks beyond those confirmed.
