Sony Confirms Beatles Biopics with Music Catalog Rights
Sony Pictures announced the cast for four upcoming biopics about The Beatles at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, with each film focusing on a different member of the iconic band. The films, directed by Sam Mendes, will feature Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Mendes revealed that all four films will be released in April 2028, creating what he describes as the first 'binge-able theatrical experience'. The films will have full rights to The Beatles' music catalog, marking a significant milestone for music biopics. This ambitious project aims to explore the individual perspectives of each band member and their collective influence on global music culture. Mendes' decision to pursue this format comes after contemplating a mini-series, ultimately opting for the cinematic route to capture the band's extensive story.
