Labour Fife Councillor Convicted of Teen Sexual Abuse in Fife, Edinburgh

David Graham, a Labour councillor for Buckhaven, Methil and Wemyss Villages on Fife Council, has been found guilty of grooming and sexually abusing a teenage girl between the ages of 13 and 15 over a seven-month period in 2023. The offences occurred at multiple locations, including his home, office, car, and other sites in Fife and Edinburgh. Graham, who held several roles including Fife Council's health and social care champion and served on the NHS Fife board, was suspended from the Labour Party after his arrest and is expected to be expelled following his conviction. Police described him as a manipulative individual who abused his position of power, while Fife Council leader David Ross condemned the behavior as appalling and expressed sympathy for the victim. The trial revealed that Graham groomed the girl with gifts and maintained extensive communication with her before the sexual offenses. He is due to be sentenced on August 19, with the court indicating the seriousness of the crimes likely warrants imprisonment.
