Crisleonel Cruzado Charged in Assault Case

Crisleonel Cruzado, 25, from New Haven, was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a jogger at gunpoint on October 12, 2023, and is also linked to a 2018 sexual assault case. The victim, a 38-year-old woman, reported that Cruzado approached her while jogging and attempted to force her into a wooded area, striking her in the face before she managed to escape. After an extensive investigation led by Detective Samantha Romano, Cruzado was charged with several offenses, including unlawful restraint and aggravated sexual assault. He is being held on two $250,000 bonds and is scheduled for arraignment on October 15. The 2018 case involves a knife attack on a woman in the same vicinity, further implicating Cruzado in violent crimes. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice for victims of such offenses.
