India has strongly condemned recent comments by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who included India in a list of places where Muslims are suffering. Khamenei's remarks, made on the occasion of the Prophet Mohammed's birth anniversary, emphasized the need for global Muslim solidarity and criticized the treatment of Muslims in India, Myanmar, and Gaza. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India described Khamenei's statements as 'misinformed and unacceptable,' urging countries to examine their own records on minority rights before making such observations. Despite this diplomatic tension, India and Iran continue to maintain important strategic and economic ties, including a recent agreement on the Chabahar Port. This is not the first time Khamenei has spoken on issues concerning Indian Muslims, having previously commented on the situation in Kashmir.
