Meta Platforms is launching its AI chatbot, Meta AI, in six countries including Brazil, the UK, and the Philippines, with plans to expand to 21 new markets by the end of the year. The chatbot will support multiple languages such as Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese, aiming to be available in 43 countries overall, with nearly 500 million monthly users. Additionally, Meta AI will be accessible on Ray-Ban smart glasses in the UK and Australia, although the UK launch will initially feature only voice support. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has indicated that Meta AI is on track to become the most used AI assistant globally by the end of 2024. However, the expansion notably excludes the European Union due to regulatory concerns. This rollout positions Meta to better compete with other AI platforms like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
