Deputy Schreiber Critically Injured in Pursuit Incident

Newton County Sheriff's Deputy Corporal Brandon Schreiber, shot during a pursuit on September 1, will not survive his injuries. The incident began with a high-speed chase involving suspect Andrew Roselius, believed to have a hostage, which crossed from Illinois into Indiana and ended back in Illinois. During the encounter, Schreiber was critically injured, and Roselius was shot and killed. Schreiber, a five-year veteran and organ donor, will continue to help others through his donation. The Illinois State Police have taken over the investigation, and more details are expected later this week.
