Princess Leonor Begins Naval Training in Spain

Princess Leonor of Spain has commenced her military training at the Naval Military School of Marín, donning a crisp white uniform as she embarks on a year-long program designed to prepare her for future leadership as the Commander in Chief of the armed forces. The 18-year-old heir to the throne will spend the next four months at the school before undertaking practical lessons aboard the Training Ship Juan Sebastián Elcano. Minister of Defense Margarita Robles expressed pride in Leonor's training, highlighting the essential values of commitment and leadership that are crucial for her role as a future head of state. This training follows her recent completion of a year at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza. Leonor's military education is aligned with a family tradition, as both her father King Felipe and grandfather Juan Carlos have completed similar training. The Royal Court announced she will also continue her military education at the San Javier General Air Academy after her naval training.
