Actor Lee Weaver Dies at 95 After Diverse TV and Film Career
Lee Weaver, a versatile character actor known for his extensive career spanning over six decades and more than 140 screen credits, passed away at 95 in his Los Angeles home. He was celebrated for roles such as Brian Kincaid on "The Bill Cosby Show," Buck Naked in "Hill Street Blues" and "NYPD Blue," and a blind man in the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Weaver's career included appearances in notable films like "Donnie Darko" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," as well as recurring roles on television series including "Easy Street" and guest spots on popular shows like "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he served in the U.S. Army before pursuing acting and was also involved in promoting jazz music at Birdland in New York. He was admired not only for his performances but also for mentoring younger actors and advocating for better representation of Black actors in Hollywood. Weaver is survived by his wife, actress Ta-Tanisha, and their daughter, Leis La-Te, with a public memorial planned in Los Angeles.
