Although Ma did not participate in the singles tournament, he played a crucial role in the doubles matches, contributing to China's overall success. Over his 12-year Olympic journey, Ma has won at least one gold medal in every Summer Games since London 2012 and has accumulated 14 world titles. Despite announcing the end of his Olympic career, Ma hinted at continuing his involvement in international competitions. China remains dominant in table tennis, having won 36 out of 41 gold medals since the sport was introduced in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
