Man Sentenced for Fatal Tire Accident in Kentucky

Ricky Raider, a 37-year-old man from Ohio, has been sentenced to seven years in a Kentucky prison for causing the death of 18-year-old Lauren Collins when a tire from his truck flew through her windshield on I-75. The incident occurred on July 16, 2023, and Raider initially reported losing the tire but claimed he did not believe it had hit anyone. Following a jailhouse phone call where he confessed to witnessing the collision, he pleaded guilty to charges of leaving the scene of an accident and being a persistent felony offender. Collins' mother, Amy Marsh, expressed relief at not having to endure a trial, stating that justice has been served. The family has since established a nonprofit organization, Shine Like Lauren, to honor her memory. Raider's sentence will be served without the possibility of parole.
