Pune Iron Bridge Collapse Kills 2 Injures 32 Tourists

An iron bridge over the Indrayani River in Pune's Kundamala area collapsed on Sunday afternoon, resulting in two deaths and injuring over 30 people. The bridge, a popular tourist spot, was crowded when it gave way, causing many visitors to fall into the river. Officials indicated that the bridge was old and rusted, and it collapsed as several people were standing on it. Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force, fire brigade, and local police involved in searching for missing individuals and assisting the injured. The area had experienced heavy rains in the days leading to the incident, increasing the river's flow, although it was not raining at the time of the collapse. Authorities have sanctioned a plan to construct a new bridge to replace the damaged one.
