Jersey City fire injures six, damages apartments and laundromat
A fire broke out early Thursday morning in a three-story building on Summit Avenue in Jersey City, which houses a laundromat and apartments above. Four residents—two adults and two children—were seriously injured and hospitalized after being rescued from the upper floors, while multiple firefighters also suffered injuries, including burns. Flames were seen shooting from the back of the building, causing significant damage to the apartments above the laundromat. The Red Cross is assisting at least 18 people affected by the fire. The laundromat was closed when the fire started and authorities, including the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department, are investigating the cause.
