Sum 41 Cancels Final Australian Tour, Deryck Whibley Apologizes

Deryck Whibley, frontman of Sum 41, issued a heartfelt apology to Australian fans after the band was forced to cancel their farewell shows due to his battle with pneumonia. In a video, he expressed his deep regret over missing important performances, including the Good Things Festival in December, saying, 'I’m so sorry for all the places we couldn’t get to and the shows we couldn’t make.' The band had announced the cancellation shortly before their first scheduled show, citing medical advice as the reason for Whibley's inability to perform. Despite their disappointment, Whibley emphasized that the situation was beyond their control and that they had tried everything possible to fulfill their commitments. Sum 41 wrapped up their nearly 30-year career with a final concert in Toronto at the end of January 2024, marking the end of an era for the pop-punk band. Although the band will not return to Australia, the Good Things Festival is expected to continue in 2025.
