Canada Seizes $23M Cocaine at Blue Water Bridge

Canadian border officials seized 161 bricks of cocaine weighing 187 kilograms and valued at $23.3 million at the Blue Water Bridge near Sarnia, Ontario, after a commercial truck entered from Michigan and was flagged for secondary inspection. The truck's driver, 27-year-old Karamveer Singh of Brampton, Ontario, was arrested and charged with importation and possession of cocaine for trafficking. This marks the fourth major cocaine seizure at the Blue Water Bridge in 2024, bringing the total intercepted at Southern Ontario ports to 978 kilograms this year. Officials praised recent government investments in border protection amid calls for stricter northern border controls. In a separate event, U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Texas seized over $1.5 million in cocaine at the Colombia Solidarity Bridge, highlighting continent-wide anti-smuggling efforts.
