19-Hour-Old Girl Found Dead Near USC

A full-term, 19-hour-old girl was found dead near the University of Southern California at the Cardinal Gardens apartments in the 3100 block of McClintock Avenue, with reports placing the discovery late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner identified the infant and police have classified the case as an undetermined death pending the coroner’s investigation. The LAPD’s Juvenile Division is handling the investigation and no arrests have been reported. Los Angeles Fire Department crews had responded earlier that evening to the same location for a 20-year-old woman who was reported to have difficulty breathing, and a Citizen app post said a child was left alone, but authorities have not confirmed any connection between those reports and the infant’s death.
