Shackled Inmate Randall Boyett Recaptured

Randall Boyett, 23, escaped custody Monday morning while being transported by Webster Parish officers to another Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections facility, fleeing near U.S. 190 and Poydras Bayou Road in Erwinville. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark jogging pants and was shackled at the waist/front when he exited the transport van; investigators said how he escaped remained under investigation. Authorities mounted an extensive multi-agency search that included West Baton Rouge deputies, Louisiana State Police air support, drones, dogs and the Angola chase team and asked residents to provide camera footage and call 911 with tips. Boyett had a criminal history dating to 2020 and was being held on a meth-possession-related matter. Deputies captured Boyett around 6:30 p.m. near Foster Tire Center in Erwinville and returned him to custody.
