Grandmother Pleads Guilty in Infant Assault

Mia Harris, a 43-year-old woman from Liberty Township, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to felonious assault after intentionally shooting her 6-month-old granddaughter in the head on December 9, 2023. This plea deal led to the dismissal of other charges, including additional felonious assault counts and improperly discharging a firearm. Authorities report that Harris shot at several family members during the incident before targeting the infant, who miraculously survived despite severe injuries. Harris had initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but changed her plea in a deal that could result in a maximum penalty of 15 years. Sentencing is scheduled for October 29.
