New Orleans Authorities Arrest Ninth Fugitive From Major Jailbreak

Antoine Massey, one of ten inmates who escaped from the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility in New Orleans on May 16, 2025, was captured after nearly six weeks on the run. Authorities found him at a residence in New Orleans, and he will be transported to a secure state correctional facility, facing additional charges related to the escape. Massey had been incarcerated for domestic abuse battery involving strangulation, motor vehicle theft, and parole violation. The escape exposed serious security lapses at the jail, including a faulty cell door and assistance from a maintenance worker. Despite Massey's capture, Derrick Groves, a convicted murderer and the last remaining escapee, is still at large, with a $50,000 reward offered for information leading to his arrest. Law enforcement agencies from local, state, and federal levels continue to coordinate efforts to apprehend Groves and investigate the jailbreak.
