New York City Launches Housing Lottery in Astoria

New York City has launched two housing lotteries for affordable apartments in Astoria. The second lottery is for 28 middle-income apartments at the Amara building, where rents range from $2,275 to $3,700, targeting residents earning up to 130% of AMI. Applications for both lotteries must be submitted by October 18 and November 27, 2024, respectively. Meanwhile, in Israel, the Ministry of Construction has opened a lottery for discounted apartments, with 4,741 units available across 14 locations, targeting participants without homes who hold eligibility certificates. Registration for the Israeli lottery runs until November 3, 2024, with a significant allocation for active reserve soldiers.
