Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has been declared the winner of the recent presidential election, securing approximately 94% of the vote amid claims of electoral irregularities and low voter turnout. Only about six million of the 24 million registered voters participated, continuing a trend of low engagement from his first term. His main opponents, Islamist Abdelali Hassani Cherif and socialist Youcef Aouchiche, garnered only 3% and 2.1% of the votes, respectively. Despite his overwhelming victory, Cherif's campaign alleged that polling officials were pressured to inflate results and raised concerns over the transparency of the electoral process.
