Biltmore Estate Damaged by Hurricane Helene

The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, has suffered significant damage from Hurricane Helene, particularly in low-lying areas and the entrance, while the Biltmore House itself sustained minimal harm. The estate reported extensive flooding and wind damage across its 8,000 acres, leading to the loss of several animals, although the majority are safe. Crews are currently assessing the damage and clearing roads, but the estate will remain closed to visitors until at least October 15. The region has been severely impacted, with at least 72 fatalities reported in Buncombe County and around 78,000 homes without power. Biltmore Village, located near the estate, faced catastrophic flooding and damage to businesses, with reports of water levels rising as high as 15 feet in some areas.
