Japan's First Casino Resort Set for 2030

Japan is set to open its first casino resort in Osaka by fall 2030, with Osaka IR, a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Orix Corporation, commencing preparatory construction this month. The operator has waived its right to withdraw from the project, demonstrating a strong commitment despite rising construction costs and previous delays in approvals. The estimated cost of the development has risen to JPY 1.27 trillion ($8.9 billion), attributed to inflation and supply chain issues.
