Father Charged with Murder of Deputy Daughter

Hector Ramon Martinez-Ayala, 54, has been charged with the murder of his daughter, Marbella Martinez, a 25-year-old Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy. Marbella was found dead in their Tooele home on August 1, with investigators determining she was strangled on July 31. Martinez-Ayala, whose behavior had become increasingly obsessive and controlling, reportedly fled the country using his twin brother's identification after the crime. Text messages revealed his possessive and jealous nature, likened more to a lover than a father. Additional charges against Martinez-Ayala include obstructing justice, stalking, and unlawful possession of bank cards and identification documents. He remains at large, and his whereabouts are unknown.
