'Ghostbusters' animated series

Netflix has officially greenlit a new animated series based on the Ghostbusters franchise, which was initially announced two years ago. Elliott Kalan, known for his work on 'The Daily Show' and 'Mystery Science Theater 3000', has been appointed as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Though specific plot details remain under wraps, the series is expected to maintain a tonal consistency with the recent Ghostbusters films. Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, who have previously collaborated on 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' and the upcoming 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire', will also serve as executive producers. This will be the third animated series in the franchise's history, following 'The Real Ghostbusters' and 'Extreme Ghostbusters'. Production is set to be handled by Netflix alongside Ghost Corps, Inc.
