Body of Missing Atlanta Teacher Found in Lake

After an extensive month-long search, the body of Atlanta teacher Gary Jones was found in Lake Oconee by a specialized team using sonar equipment. Jones and his fiancée, Spelman College professor Joycelyn Wilson, disappeared on February 8 during a boating trip to celebrate his 50th birthday. Wilson's body was found the next day, but the search for Jones involved multiple agencies and volunteers from several states using advanced technology and was eventually suspended due to challenging conditions. The recovery was finally achieved by Keith Cormican of Bruce's Legacy, a nonprofit focused on underwater recovery. Both educators left behind a significant legacy at their respective institutions, Westminster Schools and Spelman College, impacting many students and colleagues. The incident has been described as one of the most extensive search efforts in the region's history.
