Stalker Approaches Prince Harry Twice in London

During a four-day U.K. visit, a woman known to Prince Harry’s protection team — described as a “fixated individual” who may have mental-health issues and who previously followed the couple internationally — got within feet of the duke on two occasions. The first was at the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on Sept. 9; two days later she was spotted near the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College. Private staff body-blocked her on the second occasion, and she was reportedly found hiding and making odd comments in a hotel toilet before the awards event. Sources say there was no visible police presence or formal close protection at the incidents and that intervention by two members of Harry’s private office relied largely on luck. The episodes have renewed concern about his bespoke, case-by-case U.K. security arrangements after he lost a May appeal to reinstate automatic state-funded protection, which Harry says affects whether he can safely bring his family to the U.K.
