USPS Unveils Jimmy Carter Forever Stamp for 101st Birthday
The U.S. Postal Service announced it will issue a commemorative Forever stamp honoring former President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. The stamp will be released on October 1, 2025, in Atlanta, on what would have been Carter's 101st birthday, with the artwork unveiled at the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park in Plains, Georgia. The stamp features a 1982 oil-on-linen painting by Hebert E. Abrams, created in preparation for Carter's official White House portrait. Postal Service officials highlighted Carter's legacy of humility, reconciliation, and his leadership in community, state, and national causes, emphasizing his embodiment of the best in America. The Carter family and the Friends of Jimmy Carter expressed honor in sharing his life and legacy with the public through this stamp. Beyond his presidency, Carter was recognized for his post-presidential activism, including the establishment of the Carter Center and receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his humanitarian efforts.
