Sanjog Gupta Named ICC CEO as India’s Role Grows

Sanjog Gupta has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), succeeding Geoff Allardice, with his term effective July 7, 2025. Gupta, who previously led live sport at JioStar and has extensive experience in sports media and strategy, was chosen after a global search involving over 2,500 applicants. His selection was unanimously recommended by the ICC Nominations Committee and approved by the ICC Board. ICC Chairman Jay Shah cited Gupta’s expertise in sports broadcasting, digital strategy, and fan engagement as vital for cricket's global expansion and Olympic ambitions. Gupta expressed enthusiasm for leveraging technology, marquee events, and the growth of women's cricket. With Gupta's appointment, India's influence within the ICC is expected to strengthen as he collaborates closely with Shah and member boards.
