Team USA Names U19 Basketball Roster for 2025 FIBA World Cup
Louisville freshman guard Mikel Brown Jr. and Duke freshman forward Nikolas Khamenia have been selected for the 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team, which will compete at the FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup in Lausanne, Switzerland. Both players earned their spots after a seven-day training camp in Colorado Springs and bring prior international experience, with Brown having won gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup and Khamenia securing MVP honors at the 2024 FIBA 3x3 U18 Men’s World Cup and gold at the AmeriCup. The team, led by head coach Tommy Lloyd and assistants Grant McCasland and Micah Shrewsberry, is grouped with Australia, France, and Cameroon, with the U.S. holding favorable historical records against Australia and France but facing Cameroon for the first time. Brown, a McDonald's All-American and top-10 recruit, and Khamenia, a McDonald’s All-American and No. 15 player in the 2025 class, are both highly touted prospects expected to make significant impacts. Louisville players, including Brown, are also looking ahead to the intense rivalry game against Kentucky, scheduled for November 11, 2025, which is highly anticipated by fans. The U.S. team aims to continue its strong tradition in the biannual tournament, where it has won eight gold medals since its inception in 1979.
