Floods, Landslides Kill 10, Injure 43 Across Pakistan

Severe thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and flash floods have devastated central and northern Pakistan, killing at least 10 people and injuring 43 others, officials reported. The fatalities include four women and one man in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two in Punjab, with at least 12 houses and a mosque destroyed in one village. This recent storm follows a deadly bout of severe weather just days earlier that killed at least 14 people and injured over 100. Authorities warn that the stormy conditions are expected to persist until Saturday, urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay indoors and take precautions. Pakistan is facing increasingly frequent extreme weather events, including record-high temperatures reaching up to 46.5°C in Punjab this April, which have also led to early school closures. The National Disaster Management Authority and emergency teams continue to monitor the situation closely to mitigate further risks amid growing concerns about climate change's role in these events.
