Matthew Modine Joins Upcoming Godzilla x Kong Sequel

Matthew Modine has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Monsterverse film directed by Grant Sputore, set for release on March 26, 2027. In this sequel to 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,' Modine will portray a general among a cast that includes returning actor Dan Stevens and newcomers Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, and Delroy Lindo. Although plot details remain under wraps, the film is expected to feature both Godzilla and Kong facing a cataclysmic threat, while also expanding on human character narratives. The previous installment, released in 2024, became the highest-grossing film in the Monsterverse, earning over $571 million worldwide. The Monsterverse franchise, which began in 2014, has grossed over $2.5 billion across its films and includes various media adaptations. Production is set to begin in April 2024 in Australia.
