Canucks Edge Predators 5–4 in OT
Vancouver edged Nashville 5–4 in overtime despite being out-chanced 20–15 and trailing in high-danger chances, earning the win as the Canucks returned home for a four-game homestand. Quinn Hughes returned from injury and posted strong possession and expected-goals marks (5-on-5 Corsi-for 40%, 54.17% in all situations, 63.45% xGF%), with Tom Willander leading the team in xGF%. Thatcher Demko has been solid overall but had a poor start in a 5–2 loss to Minnesota, allowing four goals on 26 shots including two that deflected off his glove. Depth forward Drew O'Connor scored both Vancouver goals in that Wild loss and has four points over the past two games as injuries have opened opportunities for secondary scorers. In the minors, Joseph LaBate scored twice in AHL Abbotsford's 7–3 loss while prospect Riley Patterson had two goals in an OHL defeat and is riding a six-game point streak.
