Siu Kong Sit, a former teacher at Beckman High School in Irvine, California, has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material after secretly installing hidden cameras in school restrooms and elsewhere. Sit, who began his actions in February 2020, captured hundreds of images of children, including minors under the age of 12, using the facilities, and even placed a camera in a hotel restroom during a robotics tournament in Texas. The U.S. Attorney's Office emphasized the grave violation of trust and has committed to prosecuting offenders who exploit children. In a separate case, Christian Williams, a teacher at Spanaway Lake High School in Washington, was arrested for possession of child pornography after a hidden camera was discovered in the bathroom of a teenage girl he is related to. The arrest led to a lockdown at the school, although authorities do not believe the incident was school-related. Both cases underline the urgent need for vigilance regarding child safety in educational environments.
