Two bodies found near Falls Creek; victims 20s-30s

Hikers discovered two bodies near Cleve Cole Hut/Nelse (Lendenfeld Point) in Victoria’s high country around Mount Bogong/Falls Creek on Friday just before 1pm. Victoria Police, the Search and Rescue Squad and the Air Wing responded and have camped at the isolated scene while working to recover the remains. Police say the deaths are not considered suspicious, the victims’ identities are unknown but they are believed to be in their 20s or 30s, and officers have appealed for public information because there are no matching missing-person reports. Authorities said the incident is not connected to the separate manhunt for alleged killer Dezi Freeman and that further updates would be provided once recovery conditions permit, with a more detailed briefing expected the following day.
